Who writes it
A small editorial team publishes Windows install guidance for FreeCAD by FreeCAD Team. The team does not ship a fork of the binary. Install commands and features are verified against the official site, licence text, and release notes.
Independence line: Cad software is an independent install guide for FreeCAD on Windows. It links every installer to GitHub Releases for FreeCAD/FreeCAD, freecad.org, and the winget package FreeCAD.FreeCAD.
How guides are verified
Each review re-reads microsoft/winget-pkgs for FreeCAD.FreeCAD, the GitHub Releases asset list, and the project licence when a new tag appears. Commands that were not executed on a physical Windows PC stay marked UNVERIFIED in RESEARCH.md until a real run confirms them.
Why this product
Criteria: public source, LGPL-2.1 licence text, a winget id with a clear Windows installer story, and an official site that documents parametric CAD features. If a better-maintained Windows option appears with clearer packaging for the same job, editorial updates would say so.
How the site is funded
Advertising and partner slots follow the disclosure page. Today ads are off unless the live config enables them. Details: advertising disclosure.
Corrections
Wrong commands, stale asset names, or accessibility problems go through contact. Factual errors get fixed after verification against upstream sources.
